Empowering Young People to Use Technology for Good
Youth4PositiveTech is a digital empowerment initiative by Rankdigital Foundation designed to transform how young people engage with technology online. The project addresses growing concerns around harmful, unproductive, or exploitative online behaviors by redirecting youth toward ethical, positive, and income-generating uses of digital tools.
At its core, Youth4PositiveTech equips young people with digital literacy, practical technology skills, and responsible internet use awareness, enabling them to navigate the digital space safely, confidently, and productively.
Youth4PositiveTech supports young people to turn technology into opportunity through:
Digital Literacy & Responsible Internet Use
Training on safe, ethical, and informed use of digital platforms, including understanding digital rights and online responsibilities.
Practical Digital Skills Training
Hands-on learning in areas such as digital marketing, content creation, freelancing, and online entrepreneurship.
Peer-to-Peer Mentorship
A youth-led support system that encourages positive digital behavior, knowledge sharing, and accountability.
Pathways to Income & Opportunity
Helping participants apply their skills to real-world opportunities in the digital economy.
Many young people already spend significant time online but lack guidance on how to use technology constructively. Without support, this can lead to wasted potential or harmful digital engagement. Youth4PositiveTech shifts the focus from restriction to empowerment, showing young people how technology can be a tool for growth, dignity, and sustainable livelihoods.
The project is grounded in the Rankdigital Foundation’s mission to promote digital inclusion and youth empowerment. It combines grassroots community engagement with global best practices, drawing insights from international digital policy experiences, including lessons from Brazil’s technology and internet governance landscape.
This blended approach ensures that Youth4PositiveTech is:
Youth-centered
Ethically grounded
Scalable and adaptable
Focused on long-term impact
To build a generation of young people who use technology responsibly, creatively, and economically, contributing positively to their communities and the broader digital economy.
